Steve Reviews Inception
Inception is one of those films that leaves you saying nothing but “wow” for 15 minutes after it’s over. Then you probably say, “I want to see that again!” At least that’s what I did.
The movie Inception is about the art of manipulating dreams. It’s done by creating the virtual world that the dreamer will visit and then using that world against the dreamer to retrieve information. But can the process be used to plant information into someone’s mind so that he actually thinks differently when he wakes up?
I can understand how some people were turned off when they saw this film. It requires a whole lot of thinking, and if you got up and went to the bathroom, you probably missed something important.
The characters in the film create 3 levels of dream (a dream within a dream within a dream). So there are 3 dream stories all taking place at the same time – on top of the character development. It gets confusing, but the payoff is one of the best movie-going experiences of the entire year.
I love friendly discussion regarding a film’s ending – and the longer my friends and I stand by our cars talking, the better the movie. This is one of those films that will leave you talking, or maybe even arguing, about the ending for days.
I hate spoilers, so I won’t ruin anything, but Mr. Nolan has come up with a fantastic script that is worthy of a nomination. I fully expect this to make the list of 10 Best Picture nominees for 2010, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see nominations for sound and visual effects as well.
